Training & Development Steering Group
Birmingham Safeguarding Children Board is responsible for taking a strategic overview of the planning, delivery and evaluation of multi-agency training.
The Training Steering Group aims to ensure that:
- Training Needs are identified and met within the context of local and national policy and practice developments
- Structures and processes are in place for an organised and co-ordinated approach to multi-agency training
- Agencies have robust systems in place to identify which staff require Child Protection Training (Levels 1,2 & 3)
- Professionals who deliver lessons from Part 8 Reviews are given recognition from within their own agencies for their contribution and that this is taken into account in terms of their own workloads
- Training is audited and evaluated to ensure that it is meeting the needs of agencies and professionals
Role of Training & Development Steering Group
Meetings are held monthly and minutes are sent to Board members. The meetings are divided into business meetings, which address current business and tasks meetings, in which the group works on specific activities. The Training Steering Group agrees multi-agency representation appropriate to its task. The group also produces the multi-agency Training & Development Strategy.
Membership
The Training Steering Group is made up of representatives from Police, Education, HOBTPCT, Drug Action Teams, Child & Young People & Families Directorate and other key agencies (statutory & voluntary). The group meets monthly. The Training Co-ordinator will Chair on behalf of BSCB, and is subject to a two yearly review (to ensure core agency representation).
